Burak Kaplan

Burak Kaplan was born in Izmir, Turkey. He completed his undergraduate studies in the Department of Business Administration at Istanbul Bilgi University in 2008. Subsequently, he earned a Master’s degree in Cinema-TV from Istanbul Bilgi University in 2012 and a PhD in Cinema from Beykent University in 2018. He has contributed film reviews, hosted programs, and conducted interviews for various media outlets. In 2012, he began his academic career on the faculty of Istanbul Okan University's School of Art, Design, and Architecture. The short film The Tamed (2023), which he co-produced, received 'Best Film' awards at the 24th Izmir International Short Film Festival and the 20th Akbank Short Film Festival. His first feature film as a producer, Unfruitful Times (2024), was featured in the competition selections of prestigious festivals, including the 31st International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, the 35th Ankara Film Festival, and the 44th Istanbul Film Festival, winning a total of 15 awards. Kaplan has been a member of SE-YAP (Film Producers Association of Turkey) since 2024.
